Gretel Truong

Communications Director, REPRESENT JUSTICE

Gretel is the Director of Communications for the Represent Justice Campaign. Prior to this role, she served as Director of Communications at GENYOUth, a national nonprofit, and was responsible for strategy, creative content and working with some of the world’s largest companies to equip, engage and empower our nation’s youth. She has over a decade in global media and nonprofit experience. Previously, she managed the international social action campaign around the release of the documentary, He Named Me Malala at the Malala Fund. There, she launched Malala Fund programs in India and in refugee camps in Kenya and helped engage over 1.3 million young people in over 10 countries through the Stand #withMalala campaign. She is also a founding champion of the A World at School campaign and served as Senior Project Manager at the Global Business Coalition for Education. Through this work, she has collaborated with multiple world leaders and youth activists and has lead digital advocacy initiatives in over 50 countries.

Gretel also worked as a media producer in Washington, D.C., serving clients such as HBO, Google, Bloomberg LLP, CURE Epilepsy, and the Pickens Plan. She has covered major events and elections and produced independent short and documentary films. Gretel has served on multiple nonprofit boards and is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
